Striking Appearance: Bocote features a unique mix of yellowish to golden-brown colors highlighted by dramatic dark brown or black streaks, creating a zebra-like contrast that makes any project a showpiece.
Highly Durable: This is a dense, heavy, and very hard wood (Janka hardness rating around 2010–2200 lbf), comparable in strength to hard maple, ensuring longevity for functional items like bow handles.
Excellent Workability: Despite its hardness, the wood is relatively easy to work with and finishes beautifully, developing a smooth, natural luster with simple polishing, due to its natural oils.
Perfect for Handles: Its stability and appealing, highly figured grain make it a favorite for small specialty items, including custom knife scales, gunstocks, and, of course, a distinctive bow handle.
